Yu Kwan-soon
Feb. 19th, 2013 09:32 pmSo anyone who was interested in Korean genderbent Enjolrai can stop waiting on my dubious writing process because Yu Kwan-soon is ten times more amazing than any character I could invent.
Yu Kwan-soon 유관순

Sent from her rural village to a high school in Seoul, she taught reading and Western science to her village mates when she came home on break. When her high school was closed in 1919 by the Japanese, who feared unrest after the death of King Gojong, she played a key role in organizing one of the largest protest movements Korea would ever mount against the Japanese occupation, traveling from town to town to coordinate the demonstration. Her parents were killed in the demonstration; she kept protesting in prison.
She was tortured to death in prison in 1920, at age 18.
